What kind of voice are you?
You will be a
- Tenor
- Baritone
- Bass
Most men will be baritones. Tenors are fairly rare, and a real bass seems to be even rarer. Alot of male singers will edge towards a bass voice-bass/baritone or will head towards a tenor.
What are the note ranges of each voice type?
Tenor
The Tenor Voice is the highest of the main male vocal types that most people would be familiar with, with the typical tenor vocal between the C note one octave below middle C (C3) to the C note one octave above middle C (C5)!
Different tenor voices
Tenors are often divided into different sub-categories based on range, vocal color or timbre, the weight of the voice, and dexterity of the voice. These sub-categories include: Leggiero tenor or Tenore di grazia, Lyric tenor, Spinto tenor, Dramatic tenor, and Heldentenor.

What is the comfort zone for each voice type?
In reality most male voices will be able to cover the same range of notes. However each voice type will have a comfort zone or sweet spot, where the voice kicks in and produces the best tone.
Tenors will be able to create a pure sound at the middle and top of their range whilst baritones will strain towards an Ab/A above middle C and probably be weak towards the bottom, whereas a bass will boom and resonate down the bottom.
Increasing your range
The more singing and working out of your voice will increase your range.
The larynx will strengthen and tone will become more rounder and fuller.
However this will take a few years. So don't expect it to happen over night!
